You won’t need an Xbox at all to play new titles on your TV.
Microsoft has a jam packed show this Sunday for gamers, but leading up to the show were some big announcements also. Xbox announced that GamePass is coming to new models of Samsung TVs. The service will launch June 30th as an app found directly in the Samsung store. You can use “any Bluetooth controller” to pair with the TV, then login to your Microsoft account and play any available game on GamePass with an active subscription.
Note that this only applies to 2022 models of Samsung TVs. Checking out a list on IGN it appears the cheapest versions is around $1500 for a subpar model, most better quality models above 3k. It is unclear if the intent is to slowly bring the app to older models, and how long it will take to appear on other brands.
Other announcements include bringing GamePass to two new regions, and demo’s will also be coming to GamePass. Demos are expected to launch by the end of the year and Xbox will work alongside developers to compensate them for participating the program. Players also have some new features for visuals on PC with Xbox titles, and some pastel colors for Xbox Design studio.
