You don’t need to be a fan of the PC game League of Legends to have your interest piqued by the sneak peak trailer for Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story during the September Nintendo Direct showcase.
The game focuses on Nunu and his (big) best friend Willump, who was one of the 40 launch characters to be included in the original MOBA game Song of Nunu is a spinoff of. The boy and his Yeti are from Freljord, a frostbitten land full of harsh blizzards, ferocious wolves and enchantment in the story-driven adventure game.
“Fans will discover their unbreakable bond and meet legendary champions along the way as they unlock the secrets of the Freljord, a beautiful but treacherous region in League of Legends,” Riot Forge said in a press release.
Riot Forge was established in 2019 and is a player and developer-focused publisher aimed at expanding on the massive League of Legends universe, which has grown from a roster of 40 champions to more than 160.
“We are so grateful for the freedom Riot Forge gave us to choose the champions that suit our sensibilities, and for their trust to let us dig in the wrinkles of these mighty characters,” said Raúl Rubio Munárriz, CEO, Co-Founder and CCO of Tequila Works, said in the press release. “We can’t wait for all the players to be part of Nunu and Willump’s journey as they explore the unforgiving Freljord … and find the magic in the world, one snowball at a time.”
The press release says that more information about the Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story, including its release date and collector’s edition, will be revealed in fall 2023. But taking a look at the game’s official website, it says (at the time of writing) it will launch on November 1, 2023, on Nintendo Switch and PC.
