EA Play, the service that lets users play EA titles by downloading games from a select library via a subscription, is getting a price increase.
EA announced that the price for all tiers of EA Play will be going on up. The Basic plan, which allows you to select games from a “vault,” along with limited early access to new titles, will be increasing by $1 to $6 dollars a month. Annual plans will go from $30 to $40.
The Pro tier, which allows you to select from more games outside of the vault including newer titles, along with limited early access to new launch titles, will increase by $2 to $17 a month. Annual plans will go from $100 to $120 a year.
Currently there is no noted changes to access via GamePass, but Microsoft introduced a GamePass price increase last year already. On the flip side Sony also introduced a hefty price increase to PS Plus last year as well. Along with the gaming industry seeing price increases, nearly all movie streaming services saw price increases along with a crackdown on password sharing last year too, with more increases rumored for this year.
With all these price adjustments, it just makes me happy to be an “old school” gamer that prefers physical copies of my games. Especially when the initial paywall to get a game is met by “live service” titles asking for even more money.
