The Nun II Trailer Gets Back in the Habit

The Conjuring universe continues with the new, full length, trailer for The Nun II which shows a returning demon and plenty of familiar scares.

The Nun II hits theaters in just a couple months, which means it’s time for the spooky marketing to begin in earnest. Today brings the full trailer for the horror sequel, which picks up from the events of the previous film as Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) once again finds herself facing off against the demon Valak.

It looks…fine. The Nun was a passable spin-off, but almost instantly forgettable in a number of ways. Based off this trailer, Nun II (which should have been called ‘Bad Habits’), looks pretty much the same. I mean, the scary Nun popping out of the shadows has been done time and time again at this point. To be honest, this feels like more of the same, rather than trying to do something new with the tropes. Perhaps I’m being too harsh, but everything here just feels cookie cutter.

1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun.

Taissa Farmiga (“The Nun,” “The Gilded Age”) returns as Sister Irene, joined by Jonas Bloquet (“Tirailleurs,” “The Nun”), Storm Reid (“The Last of Us,” “The Suicide Squad”), Anna Popplewell (“Fairytale,” “The Chronicles of Narnia” trilogy) and Bonnie Aarons (reprising her role from “The Nun”), surrounded by an ensemble cast of international talent.

The Nun II is set to hit theaters on September 8, 2023.
