This morning brought a lengthy new look at the gameplay for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, revealing new locations, weapon fusing, and much more!
Eager Legend of Zelda fans got a treat with this morning with a whole bunch of new gameplay footage. Game director, Eiji Aonuma walked players through roughly 12 minutes of Tears of the Kingdom gameplay this morning. While we got to explore a little more of the world/revamped Hyrule, the main focus was on the new abilities gamers have at their disposal:
Look, I’m fairly quick to admit that Breath of the Wild was not a game for me. As someone surrounded by a team of Zelda fans, I’ve caught plenty of flack for it over the years. That said, this new gameplay for Tears of the Kingdom has me itching to dive back into this world. There’s a lot of cool stuff going on here. The item fusing looks like a fun way to spice up combat (and get through the annoying stamina problems), while constructing vehicles and such is just neat. Consider me on board.
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll decide your own path through the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule and the mysterious islands floating in the vast skies above. The journey is yours to create in this sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, an epic adventure across the land and skies of Hyrule. In a world fueled by your imagination, you’ll need to harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight back against the malevolent forces that threaten the kingdom.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom hits Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
