During the Xbox Showcase, developer The Chinese Room revealed a new first-person horror game, Still Wakes the Deep.
As if the idea of being out in the middle of the ocean without any help isn’t a terrifying enough thought, here’s comes Still Wakes the Deep. While the reveal trailer isn’t particularly long, it’s moody and brings all the right horror vibes:
Announced today at the Xbox Games Showcase, Still Wakes the Deep is a first-person, narrative horror developed by the award-winning studio The Chinese Room, built in Unreal Engine 5. Published by Secret Mode, it will launch in early 2024 on Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and PlayStation®5 (PS5™). Still Wakes the Deep will also launch with Xbox Game Pass for console and PC.
Still Wakes the Deep is a return to the first-person narrative horror genre for The Chinese Room, creator of critically acclaimed games such as Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and Dear Esther.
You are an off-shore oil rig worker, fighting for his life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea waters. All lines of communication have been severed. All exits are gone. All that remains is to face the unknowable horror that’s come aboard.
Still Wakes the Deep is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PCs next year.
