Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Going Digital Only, Release Date Revealed

If you want to play the next part of Senua’s Saga, you’ll not only need an Xbox, but plenty of storage as it will be digital only.

The original Hellblade was a digital only release originally, but within a year of release it hit physical markets and went on to gain a rather nice following. Sadly Xbox is making the game go back to digital only with Hellblade 2.

Xbox revealed that the game will release May 21st for $49.99, and be exclusive to digital marketplaces.

The developers note that the game will be of “similar length” as the original game, which according to game tracking websites tracks at about 8 hours.

“And you can once again expect to join Senua in understanding her world through perception puzzles led by her experiences of psychosis, in brutal and visceral combat and in traversal gameplay, this time across the harsh but beautiful landscapes of 10th Century Iceland.”

The first game was pretty groundbreaking with visual audio to strengthen the immersion and the developers promise to take everything to new heights. The game will also feature more in-depth combat, with slightly more complicated moves across various new enemies found in the game.

The game was first revealed in 2019, and has been a rather exciting road ever since. The game will be exclusive to Xbox and PC thanks to Microsoft acquiring Ninja Theory a few years ago.

Swinging back to digital only, anyone want to start a petition to get a physical release? A special edition of the game, or Limited Run style release, would be fantastic. With companies like Ubisoft openly bragging about “not owning digital titles” and random digital stores skipping town, I’m not too comfortable investing in any digital store.
