Pursue The Eagle in the ‘Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut’ Iki Island Trailer

Sucker Punch released a new Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut trailer, showcasing the visually stunning sights, citizens, and dangerous threats on Iki Island. Chief among them being the mysterious and revered Mongol Shaman, known as The Eagle.

In a month’s time, Jin will embark on a new, but familiar journey to Iki Island, as part of the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut story expansion. Today, Sucker Punch delivered a new trailer, via PlayStation blog, that highlights what players will experience on this new island, including the primary antagonist Ankhsar Khatun, a.k.a. The Eagle.

Jin’s journey begins when he discovers that a mysterious Mongol tribe has gained a foothold on Iki. They are led by a revered shaman called Ankhsar Khatun, known to her followers as “the Eagle.” As both a khatun and a shaman, she is not only a conqueror of nations, but a shepherd of souls. And the danger she presents to Jin and his people is unlike any they have faced.

Unlike how things were on Tsushima, Iki Island is a more lawless, independent region. One that hasn’t been under samurai rule in decades. As a result, players will see Jin take on all sorts of new enemies like pirates, smugglers, mad monks, and of course the followers of “The Eagle”. Furthermore, on his revisit to Iki Island, Jin will be forced to face a lot of fears and deeply buried traumas.

I’m all for more Ghost of Tsushima stories. Last year, it was arguably the game of the year for it’s impressive visuals, incredible gameplay, and a captivating story. So, getting more of that on a completely new island with more formidable enemies feels like an absolute win, well worth the $19.99 price tag.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut releases exclusively on PlayStation 5 on August 20, 2021. It’ll release for $69.99, unless you already own the PS4 version of the game. Then, it’s only $19.99.
