If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “I wonder what it’s like to be a cat.” Well, there’s good news! BLUETWELVE just released a new gameplay trailer for Stray, their game about a cat lost in a futuristic city, and they’ve absolutely captured every aspect of life as a furry feline.
Last summer, Stray was revealed for the first time during Sony’s PlayStation 5 showcase. As it was a game about being a cat, it instantly became one of our most anticipated titles (big animal lovers here at Cinelinx). Since then, though, there hasn’t been much updates for Stray. Thus, we were forced to re-watch the cinematic teaser trailer over and over again to get our feline fix.
Thankfully, during today’s Annapurna Interactive Showcase, we were finally able to get a new look at the highly-anticipated game. BLUETWELVE Game Producer Swann escorted us through a new gameplay trailer for Stray. It showcases the lengths this studio has gone through to accurately play as a cat, and it’s just wonderful.
Lost, alone and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city.
It’s a bit silly how excited I am for this game. I have a cat and she’s adorable. So, why would I want to play as a cat in a game? Well, for starters it’s just so different from games nowadays. Very rarely do we get to play as an animal and most of the time it’s when our human character rides them.
In Stray, you are the animal. You are an adorable cat surviving the scary futuristic city you’re in. You leap high, claw furniture, break stuff, and nuzzle robots. You are the very definition of a cat. Moreover, the robot residents just deal with all your hijinks and love you because you’re an adorable cat. However, I like how this trailer showed off different dangers and ways to combat that danger. Also, it’s a nice touch that the robot companion’s name is B12. Very clever BLUETWELVE.
Stray is set to release in Early 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam.
