Luto is a first attempt at horror by the studio Broken Bird Games, which is based out of the Canary Islands.
Early statements by the developer note that this isn’t a “jump scare game,” and instead it focuses on ambience and “focused fear.” Nothing has shown that to be more apparent than the several trailers we have seen since it was first revealed two years ago. And now, we got a friggin demo to test it out too!
The game focuses on mental fears as you’re locked inside the home and slowly seeing haunting imagery and concepts to spook you. The game heavily utilizes Unreal Engine 5 realistic textures to create the perfect environment for the game.
The demo showcased all this beautifully. Noting it was a “separate experience” the demo throws you into an enclosed story with several puzzles to solve, but everything was done so well. The environment changes, the slowly expanding world, and the fine details in every area you walk into, I’m so excited to get my hands on the full game. Plus, I don’t know what exactly it is, but the “monsters” you see in the trailers (and now the demo) found a way to scare the crap out of me!
The game is coming both physically and digitally early next year. The demo is available on the PlayStation Store now.
