Gather around followers, the first major content update for Cult of the Lamb has officially dropped and it’s a doozy.
Massive Monster released the Relics of the Old Faith free DLC today, adding a brand-new post-game storyline, new relics, new lore, combat improvements and more. Developers shared a more detail outline of the update on Steam. Here’s a look at their patch notes below:
- New post-game story line: After defeating the final boss, a mysterious otherworldly being gives the Lamb a new task.
- Revamped boss fights and enemies: In the new Post-Game, every boss has been revamped with new and tougher attack patterns. We know many of you asked for more combat depth and difficulty, so this is just one of the ways we’re adding your requests in Relics of the Old Faith.
- Post game progression: Crusading against these new challenges will also bring new rewards. The mystic seller will grant the Lamb many useful items that will allow you to mandate previously missed doctrines, grant new Follower abilities with necklaces and unlock new Follower forms!
- Relics to collect and combat: So what are these Relics of the Old Faith? Relics are an entirely new combat system that we’ve added for the Lamb to collect and combat. From the Eye of Leshy to Clauneck’s Shoe, each of these ideological items will grant a powerful new ability for your crusades.
- Chemach: This curious character is the keeper of the Relics of the Old Faith. When you encounter them on your crusades, you’ll learn more about these mysterious items and their place in the world.
- Heavy attacks: Each of the 5 weapon types now features a Heavy Attack. Throw your Axe like a boomerang, spawn a ranged assault of Daggers, or spin in a Gauntlet tornado to match whatever situation you find yourself in. Heavy attacks can be upgraded to an even stronger form.
- It’s a (new) trap!: The Lamb can’t be the only one with new ways to fight. Shielded enemies, moving rivers and swinging axes are a few of the new tricks in the heretics’ arsenal.
- Purgatory and challenge runs: In Purgatory, there are new crusading challenges like the Boss Rush and the Dungeon Gauntlet. With 5 new Fleeces and an added Permadeath mode, you can customize your very own combat experience. And yes, you can tackle the final boss fight on the same save file!
- Surprises and secrets: During your crusades, you may encounter familiar friends and foes. What is Midas doing in Darkwood? Who’s causing beef between the Lighthouse Keeper and the Mushroomos?
- New buildings for better cults: Hollup, let them cook! We’ve added 5 new structures to help manage your Cult. Followers can cook in the Kitchen, have sleepovers in Shared Shelters, and organize their farms. The Crypt and the Morgue will also let you deal with pesky dying Followers more efficiently!
- Special boss followers: The new Post-Game story will allow you to convert the 4 bishops as Followers! Maybe you’ll figure out how to get a few cute kitties to join you, too. This is along with 11 new Follower forms and 7 that were previously exclusive outside of the game.
- Photo mode: Photo Mode will give you a whole new point of view! Change the angle, zoom in, and decorate with 88 different stickers to make your own memories in your Cult and during crusades.
- Accessibility: You can now pause time at your Cult while you are crusading on a dungeon run! If you want to focus on the combat while your Followers stay healthy, this is the option for you. We’ve also added several new text options like dyslexic fonts in English, changing roman numerals to numbers and toggling high contrast text, text styling and the Build Mode filter.
- New achievements and collections: For the completionists, we’ve introduced more achievements, tarot cards, quests, sermon upgrades and so much more!
- Heretic Pack cosmetic DLC pack now available: I think you can see that this update is truly enormous. We never expected that so many people would play our game and we’ve put as much as we possibly could into Relics of the Old Faith. We want to make Cult of the Lamb the best game it can be and that’s why this Major Content Update is entirely free.If you’d like to continue supporting us, we’ve released the Heretic Pack which is purely cosmetic DLC. We’re also going to put the game on its , so it’s the perfect time to join the Cult!
