From Tragedy to Triumph: New ‘One Piece Odyssey’ Trailer Reveals Marineford and Dressrosa

After revealing Alabasta and Water 7, Bandai Namco has revealed two more iconic locations found in One Piece Odyssey. The newest trailer takes One Piece fans back to the most influential point of the series in Marineford and one of the most epic triumphs with Dressrosa.

ONE PIECE ODYSSEY transports the Straw Hat Crew to a mysterious new island where they embark on quests and fight powerful enemies and massive bosses in exciting turn-based battles. The game is introducing a new chapter for these famed pirates, with an original story and new characters developed under the guiding hand of series creator Eiichiro Oda. ONE PIECE ODYSSEY is sure to retain the charm, humor, and chemistry of the anime with its colorful artistic style and stunning visuals, and by starring the series’ original Japanese VO actors.

If you’re unfamiliar with the One Piece series or feel like it’s too long to start (over 1,000 episodes and counting), One Piece Odyssey is looking more and more like a great entry point into the series. The “World of Memories” they are introducing takes players back to the beginning of the journey is Alabasta and Water 7. However, the reveal of Marineford and Dressrosa mean some of the most pivotal moments of the series will be included.

Without spoiling too much, Marineford is without a doubt one of the most epic and tragic moments of the series. After this, the series shifts to a somewhat more serious tone, where the stakes are higher than before. It also creates a monumental shift in the power heirarchy. Meanwhile, Dressrosa marks the first massive victory that sends shockwaves throughout the world.

The nostalgia trip we’ve seen so far has to be awesome for One Piece fans. However, I’d still like to know what the story is outside of the World of Memories.

We’ll find out when One Piece Odyssey launches on on January 13, 2023, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via STEAM. You can pre-order the game, here.
