Former Uncharted Creative Director is Making a Marvel Game

Skydance New Media revealed a new partnership with Marvel Entertainment to develop a narrative-driven, action-adventure game and will take place in an original story in the Marvel Universe.

“I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game,” said Amy Hennig, President, Skydance New Media. “The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”

Hennig has worked in the video game industry for more than 30 years and became the head of the newly formed Skydance New Media in November 2019 and are developing the recently announced game Forspoken. Hennig also worked as the creative director and head writer for the Uncarted Series at Naughty Dog.

“Amy has been setting the bar for narrative adventure games for decades and we are happy to be collaborating with the talented and experienced New Media team at Skydance,” said Jay Ong, Executive Vice President & Head of Marvel Games. “Their ambition and vision for making innovative entertainment using beloved Marvel IP was obvious from our first meeting. We’re excited to share more with Marvel fans when the time is right.”

The company said they have “assembled an accomplished crew of developers with decades of AAA experience in action and adventure gaming,” in addition to a diverse team of creative consultants from the worlds of film, television and comics.

Skydance Interactive is the company’s first game development arm that focused solely on publishing original and IP-based virtual reality.

In 2017, the interactive division released the mech-shooter Archangel and, in 2020, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners.

Skydance Media has an extensive library of works that include the films True Grit, Mission Impossible — Ghost Protocol, Jack Reacher, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, World War Z, Star Trek Into Darkness, Mission Imposible: Rogue Nation, Star Trek Beyond, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Mission Impossible — Fallout, 6 Underground, Gemini Man, Terminator: Dark Fate, and The Old Guard.

Animation projects include Luck and Spellbound.

Television credits include Grace and Frankie, Manhattan, Altered Carbon, Condor, Dietland, and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.
