In less than two months, One Piece Odyssey will finally launch on gaming platforms. With it, will be an action-packed nostalgia trip, as players will re-live memories from the Straw Hat Pirates’ past. Most recently, Bandai Namco gave us a tour of one of my personal favorite islands, Water Seven.
Now, the publisher is back with a gameplay trailer that shows off more of the iconic location, story elements, new Bond Arts, and some familiar faces you wouldn’t expect to show up.
The Water Seven gameplay trailer gave us a lot of interesting scenes for us One Piece fans to sink our teeth into. For instance, Booooon!!!! but also why was he there? Also, why is Franky back to his old look? It adds more mystery to a game that has been pretty frequent with updates, which is a testament to the potential scale of this game.
With these familiar faces was also the reveal of Bond Arts, powerful special attacks made by three characters that must be unlocked by completing Memory Link Quests. This allows players to resolve frayed memories in the World of Memories, and experience the bonds between the Straw Hat Crew. Additionally, we got to see how the skill tree works. It looks like finding Straw Hat-specific cubes will unlock and upgrade abilities.
One Piece Odyssey will launch on January 13, 2023, for PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via STEAM®, and is currently available for pre-order here.
