E3 Returns This June as a Free Virtual Event

The ESA has revealed the return of E3 this year, offering dates for the virtual event and promising familiar companies are taking part.

Woooooooo! After a strange year last year, E3 is back for 2021. As previously announced, it will be an all digital event, but this morning the ESA has given us some actual details on it. For one, it will be completely FREE for attendees (there were rumors floating around there might be a paywall of some sort). Secondly, we have some dates to look forward to.

E3 2021 will take place on June 12-15th. While there are still plenty of details to be sorted, it’s nice to have something to mark on the calendar. Despite so many publishers holding their own individual events last year, it sounds like many will be coming back for E3:

With early commitments from Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games and Koch Media, and more to come, E3 2021 will take place June 12 through June 15.

Developers will be showcasing their latest news and games directly to fans around the world. The ESA will be working with media partners globally to help amplify and make this content available to everyone for free.

“For more than two decades, E3 has been the premier venue to showcase the best that the video game industry has to offer, while uniting the world through games,” said Stanley Pierre-Louis, President & CEO of the ESA. “We are evolving this year’s E3 into a more inclusive event, but will still look to excite the fans with major reveals and insider opportunities that make this event the indispensable center stage for video games.”

I’m curious to see how they handle the virtual presentations. Personally, I loved how things went last year with a slew of digital showcases spread throughout the Summer, but there’s no denying the fun of things like E3.
