Animal Crossing’s Brewster is Back In Business

Animal Crossing fans have a major update to look forward to for New Horizons, with the return of Brewster!

Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct dropped some of the biggest game news we’d seen from the company in a while, but sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most, and that was certainly the case for Animal Crossing fans.

Players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons have been desperately waiting for news on a new update following one in August which focused on fixing bugs. The last significant update was all the way back in March 2021, which saw additional seasonal items added to Nook Shopping, support for additional Sanrio Collaborations amiibo cards and some quality of life upgrades, among other things.

Fans of the previous games immediately noticed the absence of Brewster when New Horizons launched. Brewster is a pigeon character who owns The Roost, the coffee shop players can unlock during the game. He first appeared in Animal Crossing: Wild World and was an instant fan favorite. B

rewster is usually depicted as quite blunt and quiet when your character first interacts with him. Over time, however, he often softens and becomes a bit more chatty (especially if you drink your coffee hot). The call for Brewster has not been quiet among fans of the franchise, but it finally seems these calls have been answered.

During the Nintendo Direct, players were greeted with a blank screen and the classic museum music playing in the background. The screen quickly changes to show a player in the museum running towards a new area upstairs, complete with a sign beside a doorway with a coffee shop logo. The player goes to the sign for more information, which reads “The Roost Open 24-7”. The character enters the doorway before the screen returns to black and the familiar sound of The Roost’s background music begins to play. The final screen states that more details on the upcoming content will be airing in October, along with a blurry background which appears to be our first sneak peek of what The Roost may look like.

For any fans that weren’t quite convinced Brewster would be making his return just yet, following on from the teaser trailer, it was confirmed that fans can look forward to an Animal Crossing Direct in October ahead of the update’s release in November, alongside a screen with a photo of Brewster with the words “and more” beside him.

It appears that the November update might be one of the biggest updates New Horizons has seen this year, and whilst fans can only speculate what other exciting content may be headed our way, the arrival of Brewster and his coffee shop is bound to keep Animal Crossing fans feeling warm and fuzzy during the autumn.
