Koei Tecmo and Gust have announced a remake of the original Atelier game and it’s coming this summer!
While 2022 was the official 25th anniversary year for the Atelier video game series, it seems the celebrations aren’t over just yet. Yesterday Koei Tecmo and Gust announced that the original Atelier game, Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg, has been remade and will be released for PS5, PS4, Switch and PC this Summer under the title of Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg.
You can see the announcement trailer below. While it’s all in Japanese you can still get a good idea of the remastered visuals that the game will have:
Not only is this a huge upgrade, as the original game was released for the original PlayStation in 1997, it will also be the first time Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg will be available outside of Japan as the original release was never ported to the West as later installments were.
There’s not a specific release date for Atelier Marie Remake aside from Summer 2023, but hopefully a date will be forthcoming soon. What’s really exciting is the possibility that this will open the door for more of the early installments to the remade and upgraded to the current generation.
What do you think of Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg being remade?
