Venture Beat is reporting that Electronic Arts and BioWare are planning to release the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition in early 2021.
The game has yet to be officially confirmed, but retail listings for the game have cropped up and Venture Beat first reported on the game in May. The retail listing that showed up on a Portuguese website last week gave the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of the “Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy” an October 2020 release date.
According to Venture Beat, the reason the game has been delayed is because the quality of the first Mass Effect is not quite up to snuff compared to the rest of the package and developers are concerned that it will leave a poor impression for first time players and dissuade them from playing the entire collection, which includes Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 including all downloadable content.
Reportedly, the only thing not being included in the Legendary Edition from the first three games is the multiplayer from Mass Effect 3.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is noticeably absent from the collection as well, but was not included (obviously) in the Mass Effect Trilogy that released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. Andromeda launched to the opposite of fanfare on March 21, 2017.
