Amazon Expands Their Alexa Family with the Echo Dot and Amazon Tap

I really have enjoyed the Amazon EchAmazon Echo and think it’s a great household device for people to take advantage of.  If the price has been a deterrent for you, however, today’s announcement of a couple new devices could be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.  Today, Amazon has announced the Echo Dot and the Amazon Tap

The Echo Dot looks like they took the top two inches from the Echo and packaged it as a new device.  It’s smaller scale makes it easier to place in ANY room of the house, but still offer up the full service of the Echo.  Not to mention, it’s now coming at a reduced price:

Echo Dot

Echo Dot is a hands-free, voice controlled device that uses the same far-field voice recognition as Echo. Directly connect Echo Dot to speakers with an audio cable or via Bluetooth, and add voice-control to your home stereo system. Plus, with its small built-in speaker, you can place Echo Dot in the bedroom and use it as a smart alarm clock, or in any room as a voice assistant to control smart home devices and more. Echo Dot is available for $89.99 exclusively for Prime members through Alexa Voice Shopping. To order an Echo Dot, existing Echo and Fire TV customers can just say “Alexa, order an Echo Dot.”

The next one is the Amazon Tap, which will offer up the same kind of services, but is presented more as a speaker for playing music than anything else.  Also, it’s portable and designed to travel, whereas the Echo(s) are meant to stay within the house.

Amazon Tap

Amazon Tap is an Alexa-enabled portable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi speaker that offers rich, full-range sound. Just tap the microphone button and ask for music, hear the news, search for information, order a pizza, and more with the Alexa Voice Service. Amazon Tap has dual stereo speakers with Dolby processing that provide crisp vocals, extended bass response, and 360° omni-directional audio. Amazon Tap is available for pre-order today for $129.99

What do you guys think of these new Amazon devices?  Will you be picking them up?
