The defining film of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, Revenge of the Sith, is nearing its 20th Anniversary re-release, and to celebrate it, Lucasfilm and Random House World have come together to unveil a beautiful new hardcover of the film’s novelization, as fully displayed in the exclusive Collider announcement.
This new edition is more than a mere fancy reprint, also containing countless new features, including annotations from the author, Matthew Stover, full-color end papers, and much more to be found in the main article. It’s also just absolutely lovely looking, all told.
Not only has Revenge of the Sith best withstood the test of time out of most of the prequels, its novelization is one of the most ambitious takes on recreating a movie into the written word I’ve personally ever read. Stover does an incredible job digging deep into the minds of the film’s most pivotal characters in ways that the movie never could, while also utilizing his personal penchant for multiple-POV storytelling to give a wonderfully broad retelling of the classic tale of the fall of Anakin Skywalker. In short, if you like Star Wars and haven’t read this one yet, now’s your chance to correct that mistake!
The Revenge of the Sith novelization is set to release on October 14 of this year. If you can’t wait that long to jump back into the best of the prequels, you can go catch the Revenge of the Sith film being screened in select theaters on April 25!
