This week brought even more Marvel and Star Wars news from Disney, but there were plenty of other things you may have missed. We’ve got it all for you in the Recap!

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Hits PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Next Month

EA has managed to craft a previous generation port of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and set to launch it on September 17th. Hopefully it won’t turn your older consoles into a jet engine in the process.

First Trailer for Rez Ball

Netflix is releasing a new sports drama this September, with LeBron James serving as a producer. Normally, I’m not big on these type of films, but considering it stars a bunch of Natives and takes place on a reservation…well, I’m sold. This week, Netflix dropped the trailer:

A Complete Unknown Gets Christmas Release Date

James Mangold’s upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, now has a release date. Searchlight Pictures has slated the film for Christmas 2024 (December 25th)!

New York, early 1960s. Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives in the West Village with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. As he forms his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, makes a controversial choice that culturally reverberates worldwide. Timothée Chalamet stars and sings as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s A COMPLETE UNKNOWN, the electric true story behind the rise of one of the most iconic singer-songwriters in history.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Multiplayer Gameplay

Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive released a lengthy new gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 this week. The spotlight this time around is on the multiplayer (PvE and PvP) action gamers can look forward to when the game launches.

Whether playing in Operations (PvE) or Eternal War (PvP), you’ll choose one of six playable classes (Tactical, Assault, Vanguard, Bulwark, Sniper, and Heavy) and earn Armoury Data and Requisition Points to spend on your Space Marine’s appearance through the game’s deep customization system. You can either unlock the game’s many Chapter presets, or create your own custom Chapters by piecing together individual cosmetic items, be it armor or weapon skins! The more you play, the more cosmetics you will earn!

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 hits PlayStatino 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PCs on September 9, 2024.

Kinds of Kindness Home Entertainment Release Details

Yorgos Lanthimos’ latest film, Kinds of Kindness, is coming home this Fall. Audiences can check out the film digitally starting on August 27th, with the physical blu-ray hitting on October 8th with these bonus features on the disc:

First Images for ‘Hold Your Breath’

Searchlight Pictures revealed the first look images at the upcoming horror-thriller, Hold Your Breath.

In 1930s Oklahoma amid the region’s horrific dust storms, a woman (Sarah Paulson) is convinced that a sinister presence is threatening her family.

Hold Your Breath hits Hulu on October 3, 2024.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Story DLC Release Date

Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown made its debut on Steam earlier this week, and with it came news about some upcoming story DLC, Mask of Darkness. The developers confirmed the new story will hit on September 17th for only $5!

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – Mask of Darkness will add a thrilling and darker new chapter of Sargon’s story. Players will get to explore a brand-new interconnected world made of exclusive biomes in this original adventure on Mount Qaf.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Gets Physical Edition

Capcom revealed some new details (and footage) for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, while also announcing the will be getting a physical release a couple months after it launches digitally.

Brought back to life with Capcom’s RE ENGINE, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is the definitive remaster of the classic Dead Rising™ game from 2006, with improved 4K resolution graphics and a 60 FPS frame rate. Zombie slayers can experience a fresh take on the zombie genre with incredible action, over-the-top combat, hordes of weapon choices, eccentric costumes, and a comedic yet compelling storyline.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster launches digitally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PCs on September 19, 2024. The physical edition arrives on November 8th.

New Trailer for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy

Lucasfilm kicked off D23 with some animation goodness thanks to a new trailer for the upcoming LEGO Star Wars animated series/special, Rebuild the Galaxy. On top of the new trailer (and cheeky poster), there’s also confirmation of some actors returning to voice the new take on iconic characters!

These include Mark Hamill, Ahmed Best, Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams, Naomi Ackie, and Anthony Daniels.

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is a four-part special that will hit Disney+ on September 13, 2024.

New Mufasa: The Lion King Trailer

During Disney’s big D23 presentation, they revealed an all new trailer for the upcoming live-action Lion King prequel, Mufasa: The Lion King!

Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” director Barry Jenkins and songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with cast members Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Theo Somolu, Braelyn Rankins and Anika Noni Rose, shared an exciting new trailer and poster with fans attending the studio showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The film capped the studio’s presentation tonight with a show-stopping performance of the classic “Nants’ Ingonyama” and new song “Ngomso” by Lebo M., who contributes to the film’s music, alongside a full choir.

 

Exploring the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, “Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

Mufasa: The Lion King releases only in theaters Dec. 20, 2024.

Pixar Goes Big at D23

During the D23 Entertainment Showcase, Picar brought the goods with updates on a number of upcoming projects, as well as some exciting announcements. For one, we’ve got a new trailer for their first, long-form, animated series Win or Lose, which hits Disney+ on December 6th.

Directed, written and executive produced by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, and produced by David Lally, the new series reveals what it feels like to be in the shoes of eight different characters—the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, even a lovesick umpire—as they prepare for a championship softball game. Will Forte lends his voice to the coach.

On top of that, they also announced a new animated series coming in 2025 which will serve as a spinoff to the Inside Out movies: Dream Productions.

Coming to Disney+ in 2025 is “Dream Productions,” a just-announced series from the world of “Inside Out” about the studio inside Riley’s mind where dreams really do come true thanks to acclaimed dream director Paula Persimmon (voice of Paula Pell). Written and directed by Mike Jones and produced by Jaclyn Simon, the four-episode series also features the voices of Richard Ayoade, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Alli Maki, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith.

They also announced a brand new film, Hoppers, will be hitting in 2026 alongside Toy Story 5 which will hit theaters on June 19, 2026. Lastly, they closed out their portion of the showcase by revealing Brad Bird is coming back to direct Incredibles 3!
