The rumors have been circulating for weeks now that the Nintendo Swtich Online service is getting a library expansion in October and today we got a confirmation.
Nintendo announced the “new membership plan” that will include access to select titles with co-op play including Mario Kart 64. Mario Kart 64 will be able to be played with up to four players, but will also required addition accessories that will be sold separately.
Nintendo announced that Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis games will be headed to the service and wireless controllers that resemble the originals.
The titles heading to the service when it launches are:
Nintendo 64:
- Super Mario 64
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
- Mario Kart 64
- Star Fox 64
- Sin and Punishment
- Dr. Mario 64
- Mario Tennis 64
- WinBack
- Yoshi’s Story
SEGA Genesis:
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2
- Streets of Rage 2
- Ecco the Dolphin
- Castlevania: Bloodlines
- Contra: Hard Corps
- Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
- Golden Axe
- Gunstar Heroes
- M.U.S.H.A.
- Phantasy Star IV
- Ristar
- Shining Force
- Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
- Strider
Nintendo said additional N64 games will be added at a later date that include
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Pokémon Snap
- The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
- Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
- Mario Golf
- Paper Mario
- F-Zero X
And the company said there would be “more to come!”
The expanded service and controllers will launch in late October. Price details on the membership will be revealed at a later date. The controllers will retail for $49.99.
