New Double Dragon Gaiden Trailer Focuses on Combat and New Characters

This morning brings a new trailer for Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, putting the focus on the new tag-team combat and a look at the all new characters!

It’s almost time for Billy and Jimmy to get back in action (along with some new friends), and Modus is giving eager players a fresh look at what to expect.

Today’s overview trailer showcases the overwhelming power players will have in their hands as they unleash devastating Special Moves after maxing out their SP Meter over the course of combat. Use these Special Moves to annihilate opponents and earn cash to upgrade their characters’ skills. Or use any remaining currency at the end of a playthrough to unlock an array of special collectibles, including additional playable characters with their own movesets, strengths and weaknesses.

Set in the nuclear wasteland of New York City during the year 199X, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons features a showdown between the iconic Double Dragon brothers, Billy and Jimmy Lee, and their allies against the criminal gangs terrorizing the city for dominance. Defeat one gang and the others will seize the opportunity to grab more power for themselves by enhancing their own abilities and bringing in new sub-bosses to take players down. To combat this, fighters have a multitude of resources in their hands, including:

Incredible, seamless tag-team action.
A multitude of devastating combos, defensive and offensive moves across the game’s 13 unique playable characters.
Powerful abilities from series icons Billy and Jimmy Lee alongside Marian, returning as a fully realized, firearm-wielding ranged fighter.
Newcomer Uncle Matin, a riot-shield-wielding powerhouse.
Two-player local co-op that quadruples the action with a friend.

Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons hits PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Consoles, PC, and Nintendo Switch on July 27, 2023.
