HBO’s series version of Naughty Dog’s award-winning video game series, The Last of Us, continues to add to its cast.
After casting most of the main characters, the producers have cast a small, but powerful character in Joel’s daughter. Today, it has been announced that Nico Parker will play the influential role. Previously, she starred in 2019’s live-action Dumbo, the HBO series The Third Day, and will soon be seen in Reminiscence, starring Hugh Jackman.
As Sarah, Joel’s daughter, Parker will not be a series mainstay (most likely). The character in the video game has a very short role, but she influences the entire rest of the series and how Joel perceives the world. Writer and co-director of The Last of Us Neil Druckmann has said that parts of the series will deviate from the game, but it’s highly unlikely that Sarah’s fate will be one of those deviations.
Parker joins The Last of Us series cast including Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Merle Dandridge as Marlene. The series is set to filming in Alberta, Canada next week and continue through June of 2022.
With a year long production schedule, it’s likely HBO’ The Last of Us series won’t air until Late 2022 at the earliest.
