With The Walt Disney Company presenting ESPN’s Monday night Super Wild Card game between the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they’re using the opportunity to promote one of its most anticipated releases.
If you’re like me and generally only watch sports when trailers are dropping, then you’re going to want to tune in to ESPN and ESPN+ this Monday night as at halftime, an exclusive new trailer will debut for season three of The Mandalorian, which streams March 1 on Disney+.
Yes, with football in the United States being a ratings juggernaut, culminating each year with the Super Bowl, the most watched single event in America, it’s the perfect place for studios to drop teasers/trailers for their upcoming releases. And with Disney owning ESPN, it makes sense to plug one of their biggest 2023 titles in The Mandalorian.
As far as what we can expect this season, we don’t too much with Star Wars so far only dropping a short description and a season 3 trailer at D23. Both did reveal that everyone’s favorite duo, Din Djarin and Grogu, are unsurprisingly back together, reuniting of course in the final episode of The Book of Boba Fett. And despite some tidbits from returning cast members, any pertinent details have been mostly kept under wraps.
The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.
Sticking with the eight-episode format, creator Jon Favreau wrote all eight episodes this third season, with Noah Kloor and Dave Filoni co-writing a few. Returning to the director’s chair are Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and co-star Carl Weathers.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 3 debuts March 1 on Disney+.
