Star Trek: Picard Releases a Mind-Blowing Trailer for Final Season

At New York Comic Con, Star Trek: Picard unveiled a stunning trailer for its third and final season.

Ever since it was announced that the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation would be reuniting for the final season of Star Trek: Picard, fans have been eager to see what this last season would look like. Well, at New York Comic Con we finally got our wish and to say this trailer is mind-blowing would be an understatement. The trailer teases quite a lot to come in the final season, as well as some unexpected returns:

No doubt long-time fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation lost their minds at those two villain reveals, but for newer fans who might be confused, allow me to provide some context. In case you’re confused by the presence of a 19th century gentleman with a pistol, that is none other than a hologram of Professor James Moriarty (the nemesis of Sherlock Holmes), a computer program that became self-aware in the sixth season TNG episode “Ship in a Bottle” all the way back in 1993. Moriarty was last seen being safely stored away in a massive computer program that allowed him to explore the galaxy to his heart’s content, so it’ll be interesting to see how and why he turns up again. I also love that the part is being reprised by Daniel Davis, it’s a very nice touch of continuity.

The other villain reveal was equally exciting and certainly much hoped for. Lore is best known as Data’s “evil twin” and played that part well every time he appeared in TNG. The thing is…the last we heard of Lore he’d been completely disassembled. Which begs the question….who put him back together?

Of course there’s also the interesting question of what the heck is that monstrously huge ship chasing Picard and our heroes? This trailer certainly generated a lot of questions but at the same time it’s left me super-hyped to find out the answers.

The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard arrives on Paramount+ on February 16, 2023.
