The upcoming sequel series to Blade Runner 2049 has cast it’s lead, none other than the always incredible Michelle Yeoh.
Looks like things are chugging forward on Prime Video’s upcoming Blade Runner live-action series, after being announced roughly two years ago. Titled Blade Runner 2099, the show is set to serve as a sequel to Denis Villenueve’s Blade Runner 2049. While details are still being kept tightly under wraps, Variety (and other trades) have reported some intriguing bit of casting news!
The iconic Michelle Yeoh has been cast to lead the series as a character called, Olwen. Details are scarce but she’s describe as “a replicant near the end of her life”
I’m pretty much always down for anything and everything Yeoh graces, but throwing her into a cyberpunk sci-fi setting feels like a dream come true. Given how amazing 2049 turned out to be, I was already excited for the show, but this casting has me hyped. Hopefully, with casting starting, that means filming will begin soon and we’ll be one step closer to actually watching it.
