Amid all the excitement of the upcoming live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, you might have forgotten that Netflix has other live-action anime projects in the pipeline. For those not familiar, Yu Yu Hakusho started life as a manga by Yoshihiro Togashi that ran from December 1990 to July 1994. An anime series also originally ran from 1992 to 1994. It tells the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenager hit by a car and killed after trying to save a child. A series of events sees him made an ‘underworld detective’ and he’s tasked with solving cases involving spirits and demons in the world of the living.
Nothing else is known about the live-action Yu Yu Hakusho at this time, no writers or cast have been announced. However, given that this series is considered one of the great anime series of the 90s, it’ll be exciting to see what Netflix does with a live-action adaptation.
