A director has been chosen for the first two episodes of Dune: The Sisterhood, currently in development for HBO Max.
It’s been announced that Johan Renck has been tapped to serve as director for the first two episodes of the Dune prequel series, currently titled as Dune: The Sisterhood. Originally, Denis Villeneuve was to have directed the pilot episode of this series but since the sequel film was given the green light, this has now become impossible.
Johan Renck is an impressive choice to direct as he’s already won two Emmys for his work on Chernobyl. He’s also worked on Vikings, Bloodline, Breaking Bad, and The Walking Dead.
As a reminder, Dune: The Sisterhood will take place about 10,000 years before the first Dune film and follow the Harkonnen Sisters as they eventually form what is known as the Bene Gesserit.
The series is currently in development for HBO Max.
