It looks like James Spader is reprising his role as Ultron, according to Hollywood Reporter. The award-winning actor will hop back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Vision series.
Spader is taking up the mantle of Ultron alongside Paul Bettany’s Vision in the series that is the third part of the trilogy that began with WandaVision and Agatha All Along, following the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ on September 18.
Variety first reported the initial development of the series, which has been referred to as Vision Quest but has not been officially named, back in October 2022. In May, we learned that Star Trek Picard‘s Terry Matalas was tapped to be the showrunner and that Marvel is aiming for a 2026 release for the series.
Since Age of Ultron, the 64-year-old Spader has continued in his role as Raymond “Red” Reddington in NBC’s The Blacklist. He remains Robert California in my heart.
