More than a year after it was announced, the Criminal Minds revival will officially see the light of day.
TVLine reported the greenlight on Wednesday, noting the series for a 10 episode order. The report comes one day after series veteran Joe Mantegna tweeted a teaser photo.

“Just doing a little inspection today for an upcoming project. #criminalminds,” Mantegna tweeted.
The new season will be serialized instead of procedural, and the team will reportedly be working a single case through the 10-episode season.
Development for the revival was drug out, according to Hollywood Reporter, over negotiations with Messer and the cast.
TVLine reports that Mantegna will be joined by long-time showrunner Erica Messer and returning cast members Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler, Paget Brewster and Kirsten Vangsness. Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney will reportedly not return.
The long-running CBS show’s finale aired in February 2020. The revival was announced in February 2021 by Paramount+, which was still CBS All Access.
