Andor Season 2 Gets an Explosive First Trailer, Release Timing Confirmed

With a little less than two months to go, the first official trailer for Andor Season 2 has finally arrived. It’s pretty amazing.

While Disney/LFL have shown off some Andor Season 2 footage at various conventions/events, today brings the first actual trailer for the rest of the world to enjoy. It’s very, very good:

There’s a whole lot to unpack in this first trailer, but namely, it’s really awesome to get a good look at the return of Ben Mendelsohn as Director Krennic. Loving that shot of him overlooking the Death Star construction, and eager to see how he ties into the story in this season. Always great to see Mon Mothma again, who appears to be dancing at a party (maybe something for her daughter?), and lots of great action featuring the titular character himself. This just looks like a blast.

More intriguing, is the trailer arrives with information on how the show will be released differently. The 12 episode series is being broken down into four chapters, with each chapter releasing weekly. That means we’re getting three episode a week, for four weeks.

Rife with political intrigue, danger, tension, and high stakes, the series is a prequel to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which portrayed a heroic band of rebels who steal the plans to the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction: The Death Star, setting the stage for the events of the original 1977 film. “Andor” sets the clock back five years from the events of “Rogue One” to tell the story of the film’s hero, Cassian Andor, and his transformation from disinterested, cynical nobody into a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny.

Says creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy, “One of the great thrills of making ‘Andor’ is the scale of the story and the number of characters we’re able to meet — ordinary people, Imperial overlords, passionate revolutionaries. They are real people making epic decisions, all of them staring down questions with terrifying consequences. Cassian’s journey is the soul and spine of our story, but it’s the choir that makes the show. I’m so excited for audiences to see where we go in Season 2.”

The first chapter (three episodes) of Andor season 2 hits Dinsye+ on April 22, 2025.
