A New ‘Magic Knight Rayearth’ Anime Project is in the Works

A classic shoujo anime appears poised for a comeback according to a new announcement.

According to an announcement made yesterday, there appears to be a new anime based on Magic Knight Rayearth in the works. The series celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and it looks like part of the celebration will involve the creation of something new.

For those not familiar, Magic Knight Rayearth was originally created in the 1990s by CLAMP and features the adventures of Hikaru, Umi, and Fu as they find themselves transported to a magical world and expected to become the legendary Magic Knights.

The teaser for this project can be seen below (apologies, there currently isn’t an English translation for this).

It’s not currently known at this time what form this new project will take, whether it’s an anime film or an entirely new series. Whatever form it takes, longtime fans of the series are excited to see Magic Knight Rayearth making a return.

What do you think this new project featuring Magic Knight Rayearth will be?
