In a rather bizarre announcement, it’s come out that an animated Play-Doh movie is in the works.
Unbelievably, it was announced today that eOne and Hasbro are developing an animated Play-Doh movie based on the iconic play material. The project is being developed by Emily V. Gordon (The Big Sick) and Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians). No story details are available at this time.
Jon and I had a series of conversations about creativity, imagination, and the purpose of art that were so fun and juicy that I knew I had to do this.
I'll get to use some of my play therapist training too, maybe…. https://t.co/ehEKTWViNc— Emily V Gordon (@emilyvgordon) March 17, 2022
While there’s certainly some considerable talent in charge of this project, I have to admit I’m somewhat skeptical about the idea of a movie, an animated movie no less, about Play-Doh. Like, are the characters going to be made of Play-Doh or how is that even going to work?
There’s no release window for the Play-Doh movie at this point. What do you think about this concept for an animated movie?
