Donald Glover’s long-gestating Lando series for Disney+ has apparently been converted into a movie, Lucasfilm has confirmed.
Star Wars fans eager for any update on the long-awaited Lando series, which would bring Donald Glover back to reprise the role from Solo: A Star Wars Story, finally has some news to chew on. Over the Summer, word came out that Justin Simien was out of the project with Donald Glover and his brother Stephen now handling writing duties.
Then, just yesterday Stephen Glover appeared on the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast, where he let slip the show was now being developed as a movie: “It’s not even a show…the idea right now is to do a movie. Right now, because of the strike, it’s kind of like telephone, all of the information.”
Word spread fast online, as these things tend to do, but thankfully Lucasfilm was quick to confirm the news with trade outlets (though they didn’t make any official announcement on their own).
So there you have it. Lando is getting his own movie. Since the series was initially announced back in 2020, fans have been eager for any updates, but the process has been slow. Frankly, I’m glad to hear its still happening at all and that there’s apparently enough interest in whatever idea it currently has to put it in theaters.
Let’s just hope the studios finally decide to pay their writers and actors what they’re worth so Donald and Stephen can get back to “official” work on this Lando movie!
