Sidney Prescott Confirmed to Return to Woodsboro in ‘Scream’ Relaunch

After being in talks for quite a while, Neve Campbell herself has officially signed on for the new Scream movie, joining the rest of the returning cast!

Do not adjust your screen. I promise you read that headline correctly. The Scream queen is returning, and I’m beyond excited to be able to report this news! Let the late 90’s horror fans rejoice!

The news, leaked earlier by Bloody Disgusting, states Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures has been casting for its upcoming relaunch of the Scream franchise. As you all know, it would not be a Scream film without the lovely and talented Neve Campbell, and today it’s been confirmed via a statement by Radio Silence (the film group set to direct the project) that after much talks the actress has agreed to reprise her iconic role as Sidney Prescott.

In fact, just in case you’re still having any doubts as to their ability to hold a candle to the original films, she gave her blessing stating, “After spending time time speaking with Radio Silence, they have shown such love, respect and admiration for West Craven and all that he’s created in the Scream franchise. I am beyond excited to step back into the role of Sidney Prescott and return to Woodsboro.”

David Arquette and Courtney Cox are set to return as Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers, but some new faces include Jack Quaid (The Boys), Melissa Barrera (In The Heights) and Jenna Ortega (You). Kevin Williamson, the franchise creator, as well as Chad Villella of Radio Silence are executive producing the project along with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak as their producers.

Production will set up in Wilmington, North Carolina and the worldwide release date is planned to be January 14, 2022. Stay tuned and we will be sure to keep you informed as anymore news becomes available.
