The Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has cast its next lead, Rachel Zegler, as Lucy Gray Baird.
Zegler sparked speculation about her involvement with the upcoming film after tweeting a cryptic tweet that several fans decoded, noticing the first letter of every word spelled out the character ‘Lucy Gray Baird’.

Zegler has since confirmed the meaning behind her tweet as the news broke online.
Rachel Zegler will be joining Tom Blyth, cast as Coriolanus Snow, with many other core characters set to be announced as production continues.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes follows Coriolanus Snow during the early days of The Hunger Games. A tribute from District 12, Lucy Gray Baird is partnered with Snow to be her mentor prior to the tenth games.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to release in November 2023.
