Movies
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (Jordan) – I feel like we, as a society, really let down Furiosa at the box office (much like we did for Fury Road). You can make it up, however, by gifting this incredible film to any and all of the film lovers on your shopping list. There’s even a great steelbook version to snatch up.
Deadpool and Wolverine, A Ryan Reynolds love story (Jeremy, AKA Toaster) – Alright, I admit I added that tagline, but if you’re shopping for the comic book movie lover on your list, this movie is a must have. Full of amazing cameos, and dialogue that will have you laughing from start to finish, this movie deserves to be in a stocking or under a tree this holiday season.
The Wild Robot (Becky) – This is easily one of the best animated movies to come out in years which makes it a must have this holiday season. The story will make you cry but in a good way, and it’s something the whole family can watch once Christmas is over.
Alien: Romulus VHS (Jordan) – Practically speaking, a full screen version on a dead format is not the ideal way to watch the awesomeness of Alien: Romulus. However, the limited edition item is damn neat and ideal for movie lovers and collectors.
Inside Out 2 (Dustin) – I believe I put this movie on my most anticipated list, and it was one of the few movies I went out to the theaters to see. And it was one of the few movies I saw again. It left such a lasting impression on me that I just can’t get enough of it. Top that with the steelbook looking fantastic, I hope to see this wrapped up under my tree.
Mallrats 4K Limited Edition (Dustin) – Someone recently asked me what I thought was the “greatest movie of all time” and somehow Mallrats kept making the list. We get to see future Batman meet Stan Lee, I mean come on. It might be the greatest movie of all time, but it is great, and this 4k Remaster was approved by Smith himself. It also comes with some pretty fun extras.
Stocking Stuffers
The Official Bridgerton Cookbook
World’s Smallest Transformers
Star Wars Funko Bitty Pops!
Friends Complete Series 4K
Dice-Flix: Movie Decider
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (Ryan) – If you didn’t get that Turtle Fan in your life the latest movie in the franchise last year, there’s no better time like the present! Seth Rogen and Jeff Rowe bring the Turtley Awesome Ninja Teens back into the spotlight in a big way with one of the funniest and most visually exciting TMNT movies ever.
The TMNT 5-Film Collection (Ryan) – A perfect companion to Mutant Mayhem for the younger TMNT fans. Introduce your kids, or cousins, or grandkids, or local man living under a rock to the classic movies that really put TMNT into the mainstream of nerd consciousness. They (mostly) all still hold up!
Transformers One (Ryan) – A irreverent romp through the origins of some of the most iconic Transformers of all time, Transformers One may have under-performed in the box office but there’s a lot to love about this animated action comedy. With a December 17th Blu Ray release, it will be out just in time for Christmas, too!
The Lord of the Rings 4K: One Ring Gift Set (Jordan) – There are a ton of Lord of the Rings boxsets out there, but it’s hard to complain when they always bring something neat to the table. The newest one hitting this holiday season is the One Ring Gift Set, which includes the entire trilogy in 4K Ultra HD plus a replica of the One Ring as well. While that may not be enough incentive for fans who already have the 4K set, it’s still a great gift option for those who haven’t made the upgrade yet and younger generations looking to get started!
Television
Freakazoid The Complete Collection (Jeremy aka Toaster) – So this one has been out for awhile, but if you’re shopping for a fan of irreverent animated humor, and tongue in cheek pokes at 90’s pop culture, then Freakazoid’s the hero for you. Now if only Hulu would give Freakazoid another chance like they did with the Animaniacs, and Futurama…please…because Holidays?
Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead Season 1 (Becky) – If you’re looking to get a friend into anime, may I suggest the incredible first season of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead? This anime take on the zombie apocalypse will completely upend how you view the genre as the main characters, rather than being filled with despair, see the end of the world as a reason to finally start living!
Dexter’s Laboratory Complete Series DVD (Jordan) – As more and more classic shows are getting harder to watch (or being disappeared from streaming apps), it’s always great when studios still offer some physical media. This year, WB released a new DVD set for Dexter’s Lab, bringing together the entire series in one boxset. Don’t hesitate on snagging this one.
Bleach Blu-Ray Sets (Dustin) – I’m a huge fan of Bleach, and I got into it a little later than most, but with the revamp and new arc currently impressing basically everyone, why not jump into the past and pick up some of the original anime on Blu-ray? You can also get this 4 movie collection, which normally goes on sale for 15 dollars for a quick idea. And for someone that’s already into the series, the new arc has collectors sets as well.
FRIEREN: Beyond Journey’s End – Part 1 – Blu-ray + DVD (Katy) – This is my favorite anime of the year and its an emotional and beautiful story that I think will appeal to people, anime fans or not. The Blu-Ray and DVD set includes a Special Broadcast Ending. It releases on December 17th, just in time for Christmas! And is available to preorder now.
Seinfeld Complete Series 4K (Jordan) – Announced just last month, the complete series of Seinfeld is coming to 4K for the first time to celebrate the sitcom’s 35th anniversary. Any TV fan/collector would love to have this under the tree as a part of television history.
Collectibles
The Art and Soul of Dune: Part II (Jordan) – If you love Dune, or just learning more about Denis Villenueve’s filmmaking process, The Art and Soul of Dune books are must-reads. The first one (launched alongside the first movie) is one of my favorite behind the scenes movie books, and the second continues to bring the goods with incredible insights.
X-Men: The X Mansion Lego Set (Jeremy aka Toaster) – The 90’s X-Men cartoon, and LEGO? Where can you go wrong with this one? Featuring your favorite X-Men characters, and all sorts of nods to the 90’s cartoon, this LEGO set is sure to satisfy the comic book, and lego fan on anyone’s holiday shopping list.
The Art of The Legend of Vox Machina (Becky)– Granted this one comes out right before Christmas but what better gift to get a fan of The Legend of Vox Machina and Critical Role but a book celebrating the gorgeous art that fills this animated series?
Soundtracks
The Legend of Vox Machina Season 1 on Vinyl
Dune: Part Two
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
I Saw the TV Glow
Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs (Soundtrack from the Original Series) Vinyl
The Worlds of Wes Anderson: The Influences and Inspiration Behind the Iconic Films (Jordan) – This is for the fan looking to dive deeper into the works of filmmaker Wes Anderson. With a look into his overall process and inspirations, along with plenty of great art/highlights, this makes for a solid coffee table book for cinephiles all around.
Griswold Hockey Sweater (Christmas Vacation) (Dustin) – Watching A Christmas Vacation is a tradition in my family and I always thought their hockey jerseys (sweaters) were cool. Well, I found some replicas and ended up purchasing them as an early present, and already wore mine too. I can personally vouch that the quality of these is entirely worth the price. The stitching and authenticity is very much like a real NHL sweater, and not just screen printed on like cheaper alternatives.
Indiana Jones: The Complete Collection Vinyl Soundtrack (Jordan) – Much like the incredible (and massive) LP boxset for the Star Wars soundtrack, fans can now get a similarly impressive set for Indiana Jones. With ten discs, collectible posters, and a map, this limited edition set is ideal for collectors this holiday season.
The Film That Changed My Life: 30 Directors on Their Epiphanies in the Dark (Ryan) – A must-have for any aspiring or established film buffs in your life. Find out what movies inspired the people who made your favorite movies! Great insights for any would-be filmmakers, with a treasure trove of classic titles to explore and fall in love with.
Heretic Parfum’s Nosferatu (Jordan) – I’m not exactly the biggest perfume guy, but I just think this new collaboration is pretty damn neat. Heretic Parfum developed a new Nosferatu perfume to celebrate the upcoming release of Robert Eggers’ new film. Definitely a unique gift to get the horror film loving goth on your shopping list this year.
We hope this guide will prove helpful to you this holiday season, but don’t forget to look out for our upcoming Gaming and Geek gift guides as well!
