The official title for John Wick 4, arriving in May 2022, has potentially, though not officially, been revealed.
John Wick 4, currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2022, recently wrapped filming. In looking through pictures taken at the conclusion of filming, eagle-eyed viewers spotted a bag printed with that appears to be the film’s official title, reading: John Wick 4 Hagakure.
If proven to be the official title of the film, Hagakure provides some interesting ramifications for the upcoming fourth entry in the story of John Wick. The word means ‘hidden leaves’ and is the title for a practical and spiritual guide for a warrior by Yamamoto Tsunetomo that was written in the early 18th century.
Given how John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum ended, Hagakure would be a fitting title indeed as John Wick is certainly in need of guidance, both practical and spiritual, to be a warrior given what’s coming. As a reminder, the third film ended with Winston seemingly double-crossing Wick after the latter took a definitive stand against the league of assassins he had previously pledged his service to.
