James Gunn has made the decision on actors taking on the iconic roles of Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman: Legacy!
Rumors (and hopeful lists) began swirling pretty much immediately after James Gunn and DC revealed their new slate of DCU films earlier this year about who would portray Superman in the upcoming reboot. After a bout of intense auditions and screen tests, we officially have a new Superman and Lois Lane.
David Corenswet (Pearl) has snagged the role of Clark Kent/Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) will be the next Lois Lane. These both seem like really excellent choices, and the decision came after a recent screen test involving full costume and make-up. Safe to say they nailed it.
It seemed like Gunn and Warner Bros. were eager to get these roles nailed down ahead of the potential SAG-AFTRA strike on the horizon. Not to mention DC is looking for any kind of goodwill at the moment following the disastrous (and kinda unexpected) box office flop of The Flash. This bit of casting definitely fits the bill.
James Gunn is directing the new Superman film from his own script, with filming (for now) set to begin early next year. The strike(s), however, can certainly change that up, but hopefully these studios will get their shit together soon and start paying people what they’re worth/deserve.
For the moment, Superman: Legacy is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
