Lionsgate Announces Release Date For The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

Fans of The Hunger Games have had a treat today, with the announcement of a new book in the series and confirmation of a film adaptation.

Earlier today, Scholastic announced a return to the world of The Hunger Games in the form of a new book by Suzanne Collins entitled Sunrise on the Reaping. The announcement was met with excitement and the inevitable question; will there be a film adaptation?

Thankfully, fans haven’t had to wait long for confirmation, with Lionsgate announcing that an adaptation entitled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will hit cinemas in 2026.

Whilst we have limited information on the content of the book and film adaptation, we do know it’s set during the Second Quarter Quell, which fans might remember were the games Haymitch Abernathy won. Also, Francis Lawrence, who directed the previous four Hunger Games films is back in talks to direct this.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to release November 20th 2026.
