The long-gestating sequel to Beetlejuice looks to be finally making forward progress, as Jenna Ortega is in talks to star!
It’s Jenna’s world and we’re all just living in it right now! As the actress currently dominates the big screen this weekend with Scream VI, and coming on the heels of the super successful portrayal of Wednesday Addams, Ortega is looking to be set for another creepy role.
Word came in last night (starting with Jeff Sneider and later confirmed by trades like THR) that Jenna Ortega is in talks to star in Beetlejuice 2. The sequel has been discussed for YEARS, and will see Tim Burton (who also directed Ortega in Wednesday) return to direct with hopes to get production underway this Summer. So yes, it looks like it’s finally happening.
If things fall into place, the actress will reportedly be playing the daughter of Winona Ryder’s main character Lydia, opposite the return of Michael Keaton’s ghost with the most. I’m here for it. While I have no idea what the story could entail, especially after so long, I’m eager to see if Burton can recapture that magic.
