Instead of Paying Fair Wages, WB Has Delayed Dune: Part II, Godzilla x Kong, and War of the Rohirrim

As the strikes continue and the major studios refuse to negotiate in good faith, Warner Bros. has decided to push back a handful of upcoming films, including Dune: Part II.

While many of us saw it coming, the confirmation is no less upsetting. We won’t be seeing Dune: Part II in theaters this year. My sorrow knows no bounds. The Sci-Fi sequel isn’t the only film on WB’s slate getting moved, however, as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim have also been shuffled around. Here’s when these films are now launching:

Dune: Part II – March 15, 2024

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – April 12, 2024

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim – December 13, 2024

Generally speaking, these aren’t huge delays, but are frustrating nonetheless. While the studios are blaming the strikes, the reality is they’re the ones holding out. Moreso, the reasoning is something that defeats their own counter arguments. I mean, if you’re delaying a film because you know it’s beneficial to have actors being able to promote them…I suppose you should probably pay them for it!

WB still has Wonka, Aquaman 2, and The Color Purple slated to arrive this year and didn’t include those in the shuffling they’ve got going. Either way, let’s hope they can come to their senses before long and pay the writers/actors fairly so we can all move along!
