If you are not too into spoilers before seeing the movie, I suggest not watching the trailer and not reading any further. For the rest of us, well this is pretty damn cool!
One of the bigger spoilers in the trailer is the cameo appearance of CoryxKenshin, a Youtube with over 16 million followers. It was noted that the games developer, who also wrote the screenplay for the film, reached out to him for the role. He plays a taxi driver that has a quick scene at the end of the trailer.
This is rather neat as the franchise really took off when Youtube streamers started playing the game, and their reaction’s to the jump scares have cemented themselves in highlights all over the web. The first game released in 2014 with several follow up titles and a whole reddit sub that follows the in-depth, and creepy, lore of the series.
The movie seems to be following the same story as the games with a security guard hired to the night shift of a run down old pizza place. The film is set to release on October 27th in theaters and on Peacock.
