Universal Pictures have released the first trailer for Beast, and upcoming thriller with a distinct creature feature feel to it.
I’m a sucker for pretty much any and all creature feature movies. Whether it’s humans facing off against sharks, alligators, giant snakes, or fantasy monsters. Sign me up. As such, I’m pretty stoked by today’s trailer for Beast.
It has the familiar vibes of other creature features, a smattering of The Ghost and the Darkness (great movie), and even a bit of Cujo action. All in all, I’m definitely ready for more.
Elba plays Dr. Nate Daniels, a recently widowed husband who returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with their daughters to a game reserve managed by Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley, Russian Doll series, Maleficent), an old family friend and wildlife biologist. But what begins as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when a lion, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them.
Beast is set to hit theaters on August 19, 2022.
