Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming take on the story of Pinocchio.
When the news first broke that Guillermo del Toro would be adapting the story of Pinocchio, everyone was curious to see how the filmmaker would bring his distinctive style to the story. Well, Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for del Toro’s Pinocchio and I’m pretty sure that question has been answered. Even with this short teaser, you can feel Guillermo del Toro’s influence everywhere and it makes this adaptation already feel very refreshing.
See for yourself in the trailer below:
Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro reinvents the classic tale of the wooden marionette who is magically brought to life in order to mend the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto. This whimsical, stop-motion film directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson follows the mischievous and disobedient adventures of Pinocchio in his pursuit of a place in the world.
Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is being released on Netflix in December 2022. I’m very curious to see how the story plays out, especially with the added wrinkle of Geppetto creating Pinocchio to mourn what appears to be a son he had and lost. This is an interesting shift in the story as usually Geppetto creates the puppet because he never had any children of his own.
