‘The Crow’ is Stunning in 4K for its 30th Anniversary | Review

The cult film The Crow arrives tomorrow on 4K for its 30th anniversary and we’re here to check it out.

While 2024 was already notable for being the year the long-developing remake of The Crow comes out, it’s also the 30th anniversary of the original cult film starring the late Brandon Lee as Eric Draven. As part of that anniversary, a special 4K UHD release of the film is coming out tomorrow and it is better than ever.

The Crow has been one of my favorite films for years, and I was curious to see what a 4K upgrade would do for the film. As it turns out, the answer is a lot. The film always looked magnificent, but in 4K it’s absolutely stunning. Each frame shines in a way that leaves the entire film looking brand new. This is easily one of my favorite 4K restorations of a film.

It’s not just the visuals that make the 4K release impressive; there’s also several new special features that give a look at how the film was made from the perspective of the production design. There’s also a full set of commentaries and featurettes from previous home video releases. The steelbook cover for the film is particularly gorgeous, featuring art and iconic lines from the film on both front and back.

The full list of special features are listed below:

  • NEW 4K RESTORATION OF THE FILM
  • NEW Shadows & Pain: Designing The Crow
    • Angels All Fire: Birth of the Legend
    • On Hallowed Ground: The Outer Realm
    • Twisted Wreckage: The Inside Spaces
  • NEW Sideshow Collectibles: An Interview with Edward R. Pressman
  • Audio Commentary with Director Alex Proyas
  • Audio Commentary by Producer Jeff Most and Screenwriter John Shirley
  • Behind the Scenes Featurette
  • A Profile on James O’Barr
  • Extended Scenes:
    • The Arcade Bombing
    • The Funboy Fight
    • The Shootout at Top Dollar’s
  • Deleted Footage Montage
  • Trailer
  • Optional English subtitles for the main feature

All in all, The Crow 4K UHD release is a must have for movie lovers. This is easily the best version of the film and you’ll want to see it over and over again once you see how good it looks.

Will you be picking up The Crow on 4K tomorrow?

Final Thoughts

The Crow looks better than ever in 4K. With all new special features and a heavily cleaned up film, this is a must have for movie lovers everywhere. The one flaw is that the steelbook case isn't as sturdy as it could be, but there are no flaws with the film presentation itself.
