Superman & Lois: The Complete First Season

I’ve had the chance to look at the first season of Superman & Lois on blu-ray and I’m here to let you know if it is worth checking out.

As disappointed as I was by Supergirl being cancelled, my reaction was tempered by the news that Superman was getting his own series in the form of Superman & Lois. However, unlike past Superman adventures where the last son of Krypton moves around the hustle and bustle of Metropolis, Superman & Lois sees our titular couple moving back to Smallville with their two sons to take on life’s biggest adventure: being parents!

While the first season of Superman & Lois is slightly shorter than normal at only 15 episodes, I can’t recommend this season enough, not least because the blu-ray features extended editions of all 15 episodes. You heard correctly: if you get the blu-ray of Superman & Lois, you’ll be able to see each episode with extra footage reincorporated into it, giving you a proper viewing experience. That alone would be reason enough to pick up the blu-ray release, but there’s also a decent sampling of behind the scenes features, as well as the DC FanDome panel for the show.

  1. Pilot
  2. Heritage
  3. The Perks of Not Being a Wallflower
  4. Haywire
  5. The Best of Smallville
  6. Broken Trust
  7. Man of Steel
  8. Holding the Wrench
  9. Loyal Subjekts
  10. O Mother, Where Art Thou?
  11. A Brief Reminiscence In-Between Cataclysmic Events
  12. Through the Valley of Death
  13. Fail Safe
  14. The Eradicator
  15. Last Sons of Krypton

Blu-Ray and DVD Features

  • Superman: Alien Spirit
  • Superman and Lois Legacy of Hope
  • Never Alone: Heroes and Allies
  • DC FanDome Panel: Superman & Lois

If you’re a fan of Superman, then you’re going to want to pick up Superman & Lois: The Complete First Season, which is available on blu-ray and DVD as of today.

Final Thoughts

Superman & Lois: The Complete First Season is an excellent continuation of Superman's story by exploring a side of him we haven't really seen before: Superman as a father. While the season is on the short side, it does a good job of world building and setting the story up for seasons to come. Highly recommended.
