Story

Hutch (Bob Odenkirk) is a quiet family man, living a rather humdrum life just accepting all the awful things life throws at him. After a home invasion, something awakens in Hutch. A dangerous past life that he wanted to keep hidden awakens and when the dust settles he won’t be a Nodoby anymore. For a full movie review check out Jordan’s review here.

Audio

In my game/media room, I’m only using 2 tower speakers (2.0) and Dolby Atmos needs a 5.1.2 (a 5.1 system with 2 speakers on the ceiling) to get the full effect. With that said my setup for the room size is good enough and the sound on Nobody is good. I did have to turn it up louder than I normally have it, and had to adjust the bass up for the action scenes. however even before those changes, the dialogue and music sound was just fine. Everything was loud and clear, the adjustments I made were to enhance the action scenes, mainly gunfire scenes. the sounds seemed somewhat muffled to me and I like that extra thump when there’s some crazy gun battle going on, or when something explodes.

Video

OK, this is the one that threw me for a loop. From the minute I started the movie it just seemed off to me. Some of the black areas looked a bit grey and there was lots of noise in the picture. This was the first time in a long time I had to make changes to the TV because the picture was so ‘grainy’. It took a while to get the noise toned down a bit, but it was never completely gone. I was able to get the black areas darker so the night scenes didn’t look as washed out, so that’s a plus.

Other than that one issue the video quality is still pretty decent. Even though it looked like a pulp-era film, details within the film were still very clear.

Extras

Nobody contains seven featurettes with an approx runtime of around 50 minutes. I always dive into deleted scenes on films, but two featurettes that were also good were:
Hutch hits Hard where Bob talks about training for the film and the kinda work he put into bringing Hutch alive.
Just A Nobody director and cast give their (brief) thoughts on making the film.

Overall this is just an excellent film and if your a fan of Bob Odenkirk this is definitely something very different from him that kicks lots of ass. Gonna have to rate this one a buy.
