A fourth Captain America movie is chugging along at Disney/Marvel with Anthony Mackie coming back to portray the superhero.
After closing out The Falcon and The Winter Soldier by officially taking on the “Captain America” mantle, Anthony Mackie has closed a deal to reprise the role for the next big screen Captain America movie. Word of a fourth Captain America movie came almost immediately after the Disney Plus series ended, and just about all of us assumed that meant we’d see Mackie back to pick up the shield where he left off.
According to Deadline, the actor has closed a deal to reprise the role of Sam Wilson/Captain America. No word yet on if the movie will also include Sebastian Stan’s Bucky (I’m betting it will), but it’s exciting nonetheless. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had it’s ups and downs as a show, but it had plenty of heart and I loved where the characters ended up.
Still no details on the movie itself but Malcolm Spellman, who created and wrote the Disney Plus series, will be crafting the story for the new film, and penning the script along with Dalan Musson.
